Pyramid Schemes
The Set Up
Would you like to make over $3000 in less than 2 weeks? All you have to do is a few minutes of typing and copying. The only cost to you will be $5 plus the cost of 100 stamps and envelopes. If you follow all of the instructions, you will recover that cost and make well over $3000 more in less than 2 weeks. It's that easy! Just follow the instructions below and then sit back and watch the money just roll in.
The Scam
If you follow the instructions, you will receive $1 each from 5% of the people who receive your letter. Of course, that's only $5. But, when those 5 people send out their 100 letters, they each receive $1 from 5 people, and you will get $1 from 25 people. So, within just a few days of sending out this letter, you will have received $30 from other people. When those 25 people send out their letters, your name will become #3 and you will receive $1 each from of 125 people. By the end of the first week, you will have made a total of $155. If you follow this growth pattern, when your name makes it to #2, $625 will be sent to you, and those 625 people each send out 100 letters with your name as #1. 5% of those 62,500 letters means 3125 people will be sending $1 your way. That's $3,125 from that last mailing and a total of $3,905 ($3,125 + $625 + $125 + $25 + $5) in less than 2 weeks!
The Cold Hard Truth
It’s called a Ponzi scheme (also know as a Pyramid scheme) and, because of its fraudulent nature, is illegal. These types of scams are really just a mathematical trick on the investors. Pyramid schemes are illegal because they are designed so that nearly all will lose while deceptively recruiting people by claiming all have a chance to succeed.
